Licensing and patent monetization company IPVALUE Management announced the appointment of John Lindgren as the company’s new CEO.
Lindgren succeeds Murali Dharan, who had been the company’s CEO since 2007 and who facilitated IPVALUE’s acquisition by Vector Capital in 2014.
Dharan will continue to serve on IPVALUE’s board of directors and will assist with the leadership transition.
IPVALUE provides intellectual property transactional and advisory services for technology companies, R&D labs and owners of significant IP portfolios.
Founded in 2001, IPVALUE said it has helped innovators realize more than $1.5 billion in revenues from IP licensing and sales.
Rob Amen, a managing director at Vector Capital and member of IPVALUE’s board of directors said: “John is a seasoned executive with unparalleled strategic experience in the intellectual property marketplace.
“His deep industry expertise, strong reputation among blue-chip corporate patent holders, and vision for transformational business development will allow IPVALUE to accelerate growth and continue to distinguish itself as the partner of choice for world class patent holders.
“We are very pleased with the performance of our investment in IPVALUE, and we anticipate making significant additional investments in the near future using this platform.”
Prior to IPVALUE, Lindgren was CEO of Conversant Intellectual Property Management.
Earlier, Lindgren had a 20 year career with Texas Instruments Incorporated focused on intellectual property enforcement.
Lindgren holds a JD from Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and was editor-in-chief of the SMU Law Review.
He earned an MSEE from Southern Methodist University School of Engineering and Applied Science, and a BSEE from Duke University School of Engineering.
Lindgren is a member of the Texas, Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the US Patent and Trademark bars.
“I am excited to join IPVALUE and pleased to be part of an organization that has such a strong reputation for professionalism and integrity in this evolving IP marketplace,” said Lindgren.
“IPVALUE is uniquely positioned to partner with innovators to monetize premier patent portfolios.
“The company currently manages over 5,000 active US patents from leading technology companies such as Cypress, Elpida, Panasonic, Mitel, Sanyo, and NXP.
“The firm has a proven team of over 40 technical, legal, business, and negotiations professionals focused on patent commercialization.
“Most of our staff hold advanced degrees, and around half have over 10 years of experience in patent commercialization.
“I look forward to working with this talented team to continue to build upon the company’s momentum as a leader in the intellectual property monetization market.”
