Application usage patent for SoftWatch

Application usage analytics firm SoftWatch said the US Patent and Trademark Office issued the company a patent protecting its method of “analyzing application usage and segmenting of end users based on application usage patterns.”

SoftWatch said the patent covers a “machine implemented system and method of optimizing the transition of enterprise applications to the cloud and reduce software license spending, based on accurate identification of end user use of software applications and segmentation of enterprise users to inactive, viewers, light editors and heavy editors.”
