Via Licensing said Conversant Wireless Licensing S.à.r.l., a subsidiary of Conversant Intellectual Property Management Inc., joined its LTE (Long Term Evolution) patent pool as a licensor.
Conversant Wireless owns and licenses wireless technology patents originally filed by Nokia Corporation.
Via said the Conversant Wireless patent portfolio includes key patents that are essential to LTE technology and are central to smartphones and other mobile devices, automotive products, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
“We are delighted to welcome Conversant as a licensor and to have their Nokia-developed patents as part of our LTE license offering,” said Joe Siino, president of Via Licensing.
“By joining our LTE patent pool, Conversant Wireless has become a significant contributor to a more transparent and efficient market for patent licenses, benefitting all participants in the LTE ecosystem.”
Conversant CEO Boris Teksler said: “The efficiency and transparency of Via’s LTE pool offers a tremendous advantage to both licensees and licensors.
“We look forward to working with Via to bring more certainty to the LTE ecosystem.
“We trust that willing licensees will seize this opportunity to secure licenses from Via, and that other LTE-essential patent holders will add their patents to the Via pool for licensing.”
