TransData, a manufacturer of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and related energy measurement products for electric utilities and industry, said Elster Solutions has licensed TransData’s smart meter patents portfolio.
The terms of the agreement are confidential.
TransData said its smart meter patents relate to pioneering technology invented by TransData for installing a wireless communication module “under-glass” in digital electric meters.
“With this latest agreement, all major North American electric meter manufacturers (Elster, Itron, Aclara/GE, Landis+Gyr and Sensus) have licensed TransData’s Smart Electric Meter Patents, as well as various other manufacturers of smart meters and street lights,” said TransData.
TransData President Trace Gleibs said: “TransData’s Smart Meter Patent licensees now represent more than 60 million digital electric revenue meters equipped with under-glass wireless communications deployed in the United States.”
