IBM in patent suit v Expedia after Priceline deal

IBM has accused online travel booking company Expedia Inc in a lawsuit of infringing IBM patents relating to information storage and sign-on technology, according to a Reuters report.

The report said IBM sued Expedia in US District Court in Delaware, alleging the travel company’s websites, including and, and apps infringe four patents awarded to IBM between 1998 and 2009.

Last week, IBM said it reached agreement to resolve a patent lawsuit between IBM and The Priceline Group pending in the US District Court for Delaware.

As part of that confidential settlement, the parties obtain patent cross-licenses to each company’s worldwide patent portfolio.
